R.I.P. Robert Wilson of The Gap Band

Sad news today ... Robert Wilson of the Gap Band passed away today due to what's being reported as a heart attack. He was only 53.

Robert Wilson, bassist for the Gap Band, dies
NEW YORK — Robert Wilson, who as the bassist for the funk and R&B group the Gap Band had a string of hits including "You Dropped a Bomb On Me," has died. He was 53.
He died at his home Sunday in Palmdale, Calif., outside of Los Angeles. He is believed to have died of a heart attack, said Karen Lee, publicist for his brother and Gap Band singer Charlie Wilson.
Wilson provided the bass backbone for the trio, which also included another brother, Ronnie. The group, originally from Tulsa, Okla., first hit the charts in 1979 with the songs "Shake" and "Open Your Mind (Wide)."
They had their biggest success in the 1980s, though, with hits like "Outstanding," "You Dropped a Bomb On Me," "Oops Upside Your Head" and "Yearning for Your Love," among others.
"My brother Robert was a bad boy on the bass," Charlie Wilson said in a statement released Monday. "We shared a bond as brothers, musicians and friends. I loved him, and losing him is difficult for both Ronnie and I. The music world has lost a very talented man."
Robert Wilson had been touring for the past few weeks, including a stop in his hometown of Tulsa.

Peace & Blessings to the whole Wilson family ~ OP & Silk

Reunion Radio (08-11-10)

That's right your eyes are not deceiving you ... we finally have a new podcast to share. It's a somewhat short set but Silk will be along shortly with a brand new 'Love Lounge' for y'all.... Sorry about the long wait but Silk and I have both been pretty busy with the day to day thing called life. I must say the download numbers during this 'dark' period really surprised me. Getting 15-20 a week (for 3 weeks) with no new shows tells us there really is a demand out there for what we're doing.... so with that said we promise to do better moving forward and get back to at least one show every two weeks.... and once I get a new mic we'll work on a new 'Sound Table' too ... happy now Silk? :)

California's Proposition 8 Overturned: Gay Marriage Ban Ruled Unconstitutional

I know we're not a political blog but this is an important civil rights decision and thought we should share the news as it becomes available.

Proposition 8 has been overturned by Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker, reports CNN.
The decision is expected to be appealed to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court, and could reach the Supreme Court if the high court justices agree to review it.

We thought this video was fitting in light of this great news
