R&B, Funk, Soul, Electro, Nu-Disco.. this one has a little bit of everything. It's been a minute since I dropped one of these so I mainly focused on newer music but we have a couple older classics thrown in the mix for good measure. We kick things off with a Nu-Disco/R&B/Funk mix that includes the latest from Jennifer Hudson along with classics from The Bar-Kays, Madonna & Timberlake. No Valentine's Day show this year but we jump into a more soulful set with some new Teedra Moses, a Pharrell production for UK R&B singer Daley and the return of the Toni Braxton & Babyface power duo. After which we get into another mix set, this one focusing on modern funk acts like Dam-Funk & Reggie B.. then wrap it all up with a new one from Amp Fiddler Featuring Raphael Saadiq & the full version of Michael Jackson's unreleased gem "A Place with No Name". As always right click the "download" link and "Save As" to the location of your choice. Thanks for being patient and supporting. Full track list in comments section.

Hood Classics Vol IV (100th Reunion Radio Podcast)
OK here we go, the 4th edition of what's become one of our more popular shows.. and for me personally the most fun to put together. For those new to the Hood Classic shows I'm basically dropping records and mixes house party & mix tape style from back in the 80's. I've been asked to try and keep these short enough to fit on CD (under 70 mins) but I got to feelin' it and started to run long on this one.. excuse the quick bumper and fade at the end but I was trying to keep the file small enough to fit. Hope it works for those wishing to burn. This one is real mix (or blend if you will) heavy and I think the best of the series so far. I also wanted this one to be special because it marks the 100th Reunion Radio Podcast.. time flies. Thanks to everyone for their support over the years and an extra big thanks to my podcasting partner Silky1 for coming in some years back and helping to take the load off getting these things out. Any way enjoy the show and if you haven't already, check out the previous 3 chapters of Hood Classics.. Just use the search box in the upper left hand corner if interested in downloading any of those. Full track list for this edition is posted in comments section. Peace ~ OP

Reunion Radio Podcast 10-23-2013
We jump back in with one of our standard shows bringing together different styles and eras.. although with the glut of good new music the last few months we ended up heavy on 2013 releases. I'm dropping two tracks each, from albums I think are among the best of the year so far, with the Foreign Exchange & the new one by the legendary Earth Wind & Fire. Also in here are new joints from Reggie B (who's album is also outstanding), Joe, Pharrell Williams & the return of TLC with a new song off their latest best of collection "20". As usual I dip in & out of the mix, run through some old school as well as some more recent classics, and just basically end up going where the music takes me. I'll get the full track list up in the comments section.

Follow the Rainbow: A Tribute to George Duke (1946-2013)
As most have heard by now the great George Duke passed away last night at the age of 67. This is a somewhat personal loss for me (as personal as it can get with someone you've never met) as George Duke was one of those very early artists that captured my attention at a young age. George Duke (along with Herbie Hancock) was my gateway to the 70s Jazz World and lead me to other acts such as George Benson, Ronnie Laws, Stanley Clarke and Al Jarreau. In the era before "smooth jazz" these cats were on the cutting edge of genre blending which resulted in some of the most timeless music of the last 40 years. George coming up in the Bay Area in the late 60's was no doubt key to his openness to experimenting with different sounds and styles. Working with the likes of Frank Zappa, Jean-Luc Ponty and Quincy Jones, George Duke went to school and built a musical foundation second to none. The saddest part of this loss is these "Jazz" men of today are totally unqualified to fill the shoes of the Dukes and Hancocks, resorting instead to muzak covers and lifeless instrumentals packaged up and sold as "smooth jazz". While it's true George was a part of the smooth jazz scene these last 20 years or so, nobody can ever take away the impressive body of work he created in the 70s & 80s as artist, song writer, session player and producer.
This is by no means a "best of" or completest compilation... it's simply a collection of tracks I felt like hearing right now in this time of sadness and reflection. Although I've pulled from different eras and included some of his newer stuff as well (Jazzmatazz is from his album released just a week or so back) the majority of tracks are songs I grew up with and will always hold a special place in my life. Thanks Mr. Duke.. you will be missed but never forgotten.

George Duke Passes Away at 67
Sad news this morning... R&B-Jazz, super producer and keyboard legend George Duke has passed away. One of my all time favorites and a pure class act. He will surely be missed.

Reunion Radio Podcast 8-3-2013
OK so I'm finally dropping a new show today.. Thanks as always to my boy Silky1 for holding it down during my all to frequent absences.. what can I say there is life off the internet you know. Any way today's show ended up real heavy on new music.. so much good shit has dropped these last few weeks it was hard to pare down the track list to under 70 minutes (which is where I like to keep these... shut up Silk) Any way we got brand new music from old school heavy hitters like Earth, Wind & Fire, George Duke & Prince along with some real hot stuff from new breeds like Robin Thicke, Mayer Hawthrown, Zo!, Justin Timberlake & Bad Rabbits.. we round it all out with a few old school gems from 3 of my personal favorites in Patrice Rushen, Cameo and Mr Steve Arrington (Who has a new album dropping next week!) So here it is.. hopefully it won't be another 3 months before I drop another one. Enjoy

It's Prince Day Y'all!
55 years young and still going strong! In celebration, check out our friend Ally Al's podomatic page today... He's going to be dropping different Prince themed shows throughout the day. I've also linked up our Prince Tribute Show from a couple years back just in case you missed it... it's one of the best we've done in the 4 years of doing this podcast, if I do say so myself.
And stay tuned for Silky1's birthday show next week... it's going to be a doozy!
